Solution for accessing near real-time metering data from the meter
The HAN interface (Home Area Network) is a solution used in Elektrilevi meters that enables the customer to access near real-time metering data from the meter. This enables the data to be used, for example, in home automation, energy consumption monitoring, or electric vehicle charging control.
To use the data, the meter’s HAN port must be activated and a compatible HAN interface, together with the manufacturer’s application, must be connected to it.
What does the HAN interface transmit?
The meter transmits metering data at 10-second intervals. Raw data is transmitted, and the scope and format of its display depend on the device and software you use with the HAN interface.
The meter outputs the following data:
- instantaneous consumption (W),
- phase voltages (V),
- currents (A),
- cumulative energy consumption (meter reading).
The registers output by the meter are listed in the attached document.

How is the data used?
- A device from your chosen service provider is connected to the HAN interface.
- The device transmits the metering data via your data network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) to the application associated with the device.
- You can decide how to use the data obtained from the meter.
Important to know before choosing a device
- A metal cabinet, stone walls, and distance limit Wi-Fi coverage, which may make it necessary to use additional solutions to improve your data network coverage.
- There is a wide range of HAN interface devices available on the market. When choosing a suitable device, we recommend checking:
- which meter registers the device displays (instantaneous power, voltages, currents, energy quantities);
- whether the device has an official manufacturer’s application;
- whether the application is available and usable in Estonia (Google Play, App Store);
- whether the manufacturer supports servers in Europe and Estonia.
How to apply for the use of the HAN interface?
- To use the HAN interface, submit an application to us via this form (PDF). Send the signed application by email to [email protected].
Use of the service is free of charge, but if the existing meter does not have a HAN interface, the meter will be replaced at your expense.
